Guzheng
At Xinmin Primary School, the Guzheng Ensemble CCA aims to cultivate students’ mental, emotional, and musical growth through the learning of the Guzheng. The programme nurtures motivated lifelong learners with a deep appreciation for this traditional instrument, while developing confident and resilient individuals who collaborate effectively through music-making and performance.
Students begin by acquiring strong foundational skills before progressing to explore a wide range of musical genres as they master essential playing techniques. Through regular training sessions, they learn the importance of teamwork and develop the ability to perform in harmony with others. The ensemble journey also fosters discipline, perseverance, and strong bonds among members as they strive towards excellence together.

During their journey with the Xinmin Primary Guzheng Ensemble, students are exposed to a diverse repertoire including traditional Chinese music pieces, Mandopop medleys, and English pop songs.
Students are given numerous opportunities to showcase their talents and learning. In 2023 and 2025, the ensemble actively participated in various school events, including the biennial Performing HeArts Concert, the SYF In-House Showcase and the Recognition Day Concert. In 2024, the ensemble participated in the Singapore Youth Festival and attained the prestigious Distinction Award.
Xinmin Primary Guzheng Ensemble offers students a comprehensive musical journey, providing a nurturing environment for them to flourish as musicians, collaborators, and performers, thereby enriching their holistic development.
